Guidelines For The Registration

Guidelines for the registration as importer / exporter of weight or Measure under section 47 of Standing of Weights and Measures Act, 1976.

1. Application for the initial registration of name in the company’s name renewal of registration of exporter / importer of weight or measure is to be routed through the controller of Legal Metrology of State /UT in which the exporter /Importer is situated along with demand draft if Rs. 10/- in favour of “Pay and Accounts officer” D/o Consumer Affairs, New Delhi.  
2. Registration shall be done only for the items of Weight OR Measure specified under the General Rules.
3. Incomplete is to be returned to the Controller of Legal Metrology with in 7 days of receipt of application, under intimation to the applicant.
4. If the application is complete in all respects, registration certificate will be granted to the applicant with in 10 days of receipt of application under intimation of controller of Legal Metrology.
