WELCOME TO DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS


उपभोक्ता मामले विभाग, उपभोक्ता मामले, खाद्य और सार्वजनिक वितरण मंत्रालय के तहत दो विभागों में से एक है। देश में बुनियादी उपभोक्ता आंदोलन को गति देने के लिए एक विशिष्ट विभाग की आवश्यकता के दृष्टिकोण से, जून 1997 में इसे एक अलग विभाग के रूप में गठित किया गया था।

विभाग को निम्नलिखित कार्य सौंपे गए हैं

  • उपभोक्ता संरक्षण अधिनियम, 2019 का कार्यान्वयन
  • भारतीय मानक ब्यूरो अधिनियम, 2016 का कार्यान्वयन
  • बाट और माप मानकों का कार्यान्वयन – विधिक मापविज्ञान अधिनियम, 2009
  • पैकबंद वस्तुओं का विनियमन
  • आवश्यक वस्तु अधिनियम, 1955 (1955 का 10) (आवश्यक वस्तुओं की आपूर्ति, मूल्य और वितरण संबंधी मामलों को विशेष रूप से किसी अन्य विभाग द्वारा निपटाया नहीं गया)
  • चोर बाजारी निवारण और आवश्यक वस्तु प्रदाय अधिनियम, 1980 (1980 का 7)
  • आवश्यक वस्तुओं की कीमतों और उपलब्धता की निगरानी
  • प्रत्यक्ष बिक्री
  • विधिक मापविज्ञान में प्रशिक्षण
  • संप्रतीक और नाम (अनुचित प्रयोग निवारण) अधिनियम, 1952
  • अंतिम उपयोगकर्ताओं के लिए जैव ईंधन के संबंध में विनिर्दिष्टता, मानक और संहिता तैयार करना और गुणवत्ता नियंत्रण सुनिश्चित करना

Department of Consumer Affairs is one of the two Departments under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. It was constituted as a separate Department in June 1997 as it was considered necessary to have a separate Department to give a fillip to the nascent consumer movement in the country.

The Department has been entrusted with the following work

  • Implementation of Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
  • Implementation of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016
  • Implementation of Standards of Weights and Measures - The Legal Metrology Act, 2009.
  • Regulation of Packaged Commodities.
  • The Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955) (Supply, Prices and Distribution of Essential Commodities not dealt with specifically by any other Department).
  • Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supply of Essential Commodities Act, 1980(7 of 1980).
  • Monitoring of prices and availability of essential commodities.
  • Direct Selling
  • Training in Legal Metrology.
  • The Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1952.
  • Laying down specifications, standards and codes and ensuring quality control of bio-fuels for end uses.
  • Consumer Cooperatives
  • National Test House.
